Their story began 2 years ago when Rachel’s Sister made a plan to set them up. She introduced them to one another at an Ohio State party she was hosting at her house. They spent the night talking to one another and playing euchre. Soon afterwards Tyler asked Rachel out on a date and they have been together ever since.
On December 5th, Tyler and Rachel were getting ready to meet up with some of the friends. Rachel’s parents had came to their house to babysit, Lyle, their 9 month old Son. While they were all together, Tyler got down on one knee, in front of their Christmas tree, and asked Rachel to be his wife. Rachel was completely taken by surprise, but immediately said yes.
When choosing a location for their engagement session, I always suggest my couples pick a place that has meaning to them. Tyler and Rachel chose to have half of their session taken at their house and the other half just down the road at one of their favorite places to go during the summer, Ellis Lake.
During one of our discussions, Rachel had mentioned that she would love to have a snowy engagement session, but she wasn’t sure if we could make it happen. Tyler’s work requires him to head out when the storms move in, so finding a time when there would be both snow and Tyler was going to be a challenge.
In order to make Rachel’s dream of a snowy engagement come true, she kept an eye on the forecast. Two days before the next snow storm, she reached out to me and we scheduled their session. The morning of their session I packed all my gear and headed to their house. It was snowing and absolutely frigid.
We made a game plan on how to tackle their session. In order to keep warm, we all hopped into one vehicle and kept it running. We would hop out, take photos for about five minutes and then hop back in to warm up. We started the morning by taking photos at their home. First, we took photos out in the field beside their house. Next we took some pictures in front of their house and then ended at their barn. We ended the session by going to their favorite place to hangout during summer, Ellis Lake. This small, members only lake is located just outside of Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
My desire, with any session, is that it is more than just photos. I want it be a fun experience filled with laughter and great memories. When they look back at their photos from their session, I hope that they remember more than it being absolutely frigid out. I hope they remember laughing at one another, cuddling together, and that they had fun.
