Engagement Session at Mohican State Park

Engagement session at Mohican State Park in Ohio

Justin + Krista

I recently met up with Justin and Krista for their engagement session at Mohican State Park. It was such a hot day, but thankfully it wasn’t terrible in the shade. I haven’t been to Mohican in years so it was nice to get to visit the park again.

I have known both Justin + Krista for years, so their engagement session was super laid back and a great time for us to catch up. We met up at the Mohican State Park Gorge Overlook and then did a little bit of hiking. After some time we eventually moved to the Pleasant Hill Dam. Justin and Krista had fun playing in the water and then relaxed a bit on a blanket nearby.

Justin + Krista requested that we also hit up one of their favorite hangouts, the Phoenix Brewing Company in Mansfield. Nothing is better than grabbing a cold one after a day of hiking in the hot weather. We grabbed a table outside and spent our time enjoying the atmosphere, our drafts, and conversation.

Before heading home, we decided to grab some photos of them on their Harley Davidson. While we were walking to the perfect location for their motorcycle photos, we noticed an alley with patio lights above and some art on the walls. Krista and I knew instantly we needed to grab some more photos there as well.

How did Justin propose?

We booked a cabin in Hocking Hills for my birthday weekend in July. We made plans to hike at Old Man’s Cave and the trails, then go tubing down the Hocking River, and then go ziplining. It was really hot and super humid and I looked like a hot mess.

After we arrived at the cabin on the first day and got unpacked, I plopped myself on the loveseat to pass out from heat exhaustion. That’s when he knelt down and told me that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and asked me if I’d marry him. Of course, I said yes! He told me he was going to propose the next day on my birthday, but couldn’t wait because he was so excited. Lol.

Of course I was excited and crying, but I also felt so calm and comfortable at the moment when he asked me to marry him. I always knew that this was going to be the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with. When we first started dating, I felt like I should have known him my whole life because he’s my best friend. I had no idea he was going to ask me to marry him that weekend. It just made my birthday weekend one of the best birthdays of my entire life.

What has been your favorite thing about being engaged?

Getting to plan how we want our special day. I tend to worry too much and when I start freaking out about something for the wedding, he amazingly always manages to calm me down and tell me everything will work out okay and that the most important part of it all is getting to marry me.

What advice do you have for future couples planning their wedding?

Don’t stress because everything will work out. Allow plenty of time to plan and knock out tasks one month at a time. Its easier on your budget and your nerves.

To Justin + Krista

Thank you so much for allowing me to hang out with the two of you. I had such a great time with the two of you and I hope that you both felt the same way. I can’t wait for your wedding day!! It’s going to be an amazing time!!
