Engagement session in downtown Findlay, Ohio

I always encourage my wedding couples to think of a place that has special meaning to them for their engagement session. I loved Kasey and Matt’s idea to have their engagement session in downtown Findlay. It’s the City that they love and protect.

These two braved the frigid temps with me to walk all over downtown. We froze our fingers and legs off to capture them at the courthouse, the middle of Main St and all the way to the top of a parking garage. Was it worth it? Heck yes it was!!

The Proposal Story:

“So on December 4th we had rented out a cabin down in Hocking Hills with our close friends Brady and Colleen. Matt is big into wood working and we wanted to find a piece of wood for Matt to use to be able to carve something for our first getaway together. Little did I know as we are out looking for a piece of wood for him to use he had other plans. As I am pointing out different branches or logs (like an idiot) he gets down on one knee and proposes. With the most beautiful ring I must say, that he found without my help. So yes it was a surprise, but the easiest yes I have ever said. I couldn’t stop smiling and kissing him saying I love you over and over again. And as a bonus Colleen and Brady were in on it, so we got plenty of pictures and video of the proposal. We celebrated with champagne and enjoyed the day to ourselves before we announced it to our family and friends.”

What has been your favorite part about being engaged?

“We both knew we found our person when we started dating. But favorite part of being engaged is solidifying you get to spend the rest of your life with your favorite person.”

What advice do you have for future couples planning their wedding?

“I think 1st establish how many people you are going to want at the wedding. Then start looking for venues that can host that number. Then pick a date based on availability at the venue that you love. I am a super need plans kind of person.. So I started planning as much as I could as soon as I could so I can have all of “the plans” done as soon as possible. Also find someone to decorate for you. One less thing to stress about. Use a travel agency to plan the honeymoon, give then your budget and what you are looking for and they will do all the leg work. Also set a budget early and stick to it!”
